BASIC EVENT INSTRUCTION COURSE
Rotary Field
Sunday 12th September 2010
FREE COURSE FOR ALL PARENTS

Have you ever wanted to help at your Little Athletics Centre but not known how?
Has your Centre asked for volunteers but you stood back, not wanting to make a mistake?
Has your child ever asked for basic event assistance and you didn’t know how to help them?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then this course is for you!

To do this course you don’t need to have any prior knowledge of Little Athletics; all you need is a willingness to learn. ‘Basic Event Instruction’ is a term used to encompass the essentials you need to know about how to conduct an event at the ‘how not to get disqualified level’. The course also dispels some common myths and misconceptions about each of the Little Athletics events.
(It is not a coaching course or an official’s course but is a raw starting point for the first time parent).

The majority of the course is practical, with some theory involved. The atmosphere of the course is fun and non-threatening, making it a day where people can feel relaxed and motivated by what they learn.  It is also nice to know that there is no cost involved and no exam at the end!

Course topics include:
TRACK – Running, Hurdles, Walks, Relays, Starting, Timekeeping
FIELD THROWS – Shot, Discus, Javelin
FIELD JUMPS – High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump

Please contact the secretary if you would like to register for this FREE course

LAANSW STATE CROSS COUNTRY AND ROAD WALKS
Stewart Street, Tuncurry - Sunday, 4th July, 2010
The 2009/10 seson was finished on a crisp Sunday morning in Tuncurry. The 13 Northern Suburbs athletes had a chance to walk the cross country and race walking course prior to the start. The undulating and many cornered track made for a challenging course for all distances.

Many of our athletes performed personal bests and were rewarded by sensational perfect winters day sunshine to cheer their team mates on!

A special mention to our Gold Medal winners Metiria Dole and Eliza De Laine.

All the results are listed below, and you can see a few photos of the successful athletes on the News page of the site.
