Northern Suburbs Little Athletics Centre (NSLAC) seasons run from September through October with pre-season preparations usually starting in late July.
During Term 2 and 3 of the school year, NSLAC has been hiring athletics equipment to local schools and has done so for many years. As a not-for-profit and volunteer-run organisation, this additional task has been taken on by our volunteer Committee until late 2023, when an equipment coordinator was brought on board to liaise with and assist schools with hires.
It is difficult to gauge demand each year, however NSLAC would suggest the following steps be taken in the first instance to ensure you’re well prepared for your school carnival.
- Book Rotary Athletics Field date (and a backup) and buses as a priority, well in advance of the carnival dates.
- NSLAC do not take equipment away from Rotary Athletics Field so once a booking at the track has been confirmed with Council, NSLAC will be able to provide equipment.
- Request an equipment hire form from NSLAC at least 6-8 weeks out from your carnival date. This can be done by emailing nslac.equipment@gmail.com.
- If you’re emailing outside of Term 2 and 3, please cc: info.mailbox@nslac.com as this shared mailbox is also monitored by Committee members.
- Please note NSLAC are not hiring their timing gates for school use this year and advise schools reach out to Timing Gate Solutions timingsolutions.com.au/schools.
- Two schools that (in the opinion of Committee members present) were well organised in preparing for and running their school carnivals were Willoughby Public School and Artarmon Public School. Willoughby used NSLAC equipment in addition to Timing Solution timing gates and Artarmon used a private company for their equipment.
